Game Soundtracks

Halo 2 Original Soundtrack Volume 1In the past decade, a lot of popular game developers have produced some amazing accompanying musical scores for their games. Usually when the game is launched, whole soundtracks are compiled as well, and you can buy these separately from the game at your local or online music store.

I have particularly become very fond of the Halo 2 Soundtrack, and Martin O’Donnel and Michael Salvatori are no exception to the list of masterpiece composers in the gaming soundtrack world.

Their musical scores create emotional excitement, tuned perfectly for the game at specific points throughout the gameplay of Halo 2.

Standalone from the game, the blend of orchestra, choir voices, guitar riffs and electronic samples weave a mental tapestry that can fill your heart with courage, hope, and pride or at times sadness, fear and weariness depending on the music track.

This favourite collection is often heard at my work while I’m plugging away at my computer. It helps me get through a boring day making it into a game of sorts, where I shoot my way through tasks and defend the design world (many designers can attest that it is certainly a battle at times having to deal with the client, or the not so design-savvy co-worker).

Find out if your favorite game has a soundtrack, you may love it just the same.

“I MAC’d my PC for the first time last night .. it was wonderful!”

I just came across this really interesting article about running OS X on a PC (not an Apple):

http://uneasysilence.com/os-x-proven-hacked-and-running-on-an-ordinary-pc

This would be nice if Apple would license Mac OS X for the PC, especially if you don’t have the specific high-end Apple hardware, but need the Apple software to get the job done.

CN Tower Bows to Burj Dubai

For many Torontonians, today was just another day. The hustle and bustle, going back and forth from one downtown destination to another never skipped a beat.

Amidst all the usual commotion on streetlevel, one silent building taller than all the rest lost its significant status as being world’s tallest freestanding structure – that being the CN Tower – the Canadian icon that puts us on the map for our internationally acclaimed architectural and engineering prowess has finally been dwarfed by a new even taller structure; the Burj in Dubai.

Since April 2nd 1975, the CN Tower has held the Guinness Book of World Records Tallest Freestanding Structure at a completed full height (antenna and all) at 553.3 metres. This record, held for 32 years has finally been awarded to the Burj Dubai as of September 13th, 2007, where construction has surpassed the CN Tower, with a height at 555.3m, and continues to rise to it’s full and final height of a planned 818m!

Michael Jackson – Thriller

Okay, so my co-workers often get emails from me,… surprising! ;-)
But I’ve started to send a trend of emails that contain only a subject line and a YouTube video link.

One email in particular stands out amongst all the rest, it’s my compiled list YouTube videos showcasing various groups of people reproducing the dance routine seen in Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Don’t ask why, just sit back and be thrilled.
